Five Signs That You Need New Tires

How can you tell that you need new tires? That’s not the set up to a bad joke, it’s a genuine question that you need to know the answer to as a car owner, and Max Mile Car Care Center can help.

You See Exterior Damage on the Tires

Your tires really do a hard job and that takes a big toll on them over time. The sidewalls in particular might start to look really rough. If you’re seeing a lot of cracks and scuffs, that can be a sign that the sidewalls are weaker in those areas. Your tires may even be at risk of a blowout because of that.

The Tread Is Worn or Uneven

As your tires wear down, the tread isn’t necessarily going to wear down at the same rate all the way around the tire. How one tire wears is also going to be different from how the other three tires wear. When that tread wear is excessive or seriously uneven, that can mean it’s time to get some new tires.

You’re Experiencing Handling Changes

Your tires can be responsible for more handling issues than you might realize. If you’re feeling vibrations as you drive or you’re feeling the car pulling to one side, it might be the tires. Lots of people mistake that for a steering issue or for suspension problems, but most often it’s something to do with worn or damaged tires.

You Have to Put Air in the Tires Regularly

Speaking of damage, are your tires losing air often? One big sign that you might need to replace your tires is that you can’t keep the tire pressure consistent in them. If you’re having to stop regularly and put air in the tires or you’ve considered using canned flat fixer, then you might be better off having your tires inspected.

You Know the Tires Are Old

Tires have an upper age limit. That’s because the tread can only last so long and the rubber in the tires does break down over time. If you’re nearing that upper age limit, your car’s tires might be more fragile than you realize. Try to determine how old your car’s tires are. If you think they’re around four or five years old, you may be due for a new set.

If you suspect you need new tires, find out for sure. Give us a call today at Max Mile Car Care Center in Hallam, PA. We will be happy to inspect your car’s tires and let you know whether it’s definitely time for  a new set or not.
